Introduction and local significance
The Feria Ganadera de Borobia is held in the Soria municipality of Borobia from 17 to 18 October 2026. This event highlights livestock farming in the rural areas of the Moncayo region and the sustainable use of natural resources. The celebration provides a close-up look at the work of local farmers and their contribution to maintaining the environment.
Historical origins and tradition
Livestock farming has deep traditions in Borobia dating back to the Middle Ages, focusing particularly on sheep, cattle, pigs and horses. Short-distance transhumance between the town and the pasturelands of Aragon structured this rural world through drovers' roads and livestock paths. Grazing rights in the Dehesa del Tablado historically led to various disputes and agreements with the Marshals of Castile. In its current form, the fair arose on the initiative of the farmers themselves, with the collaboration of the Town Council, the La Raya Cultural Association and the Provincial Council.
