Introduction and local significance

The Feria del Vino de Aldeadávila takes place in the municipality of Aldeadávila de la Ribera, located in the province of Salamanca within the autonomous community of Castilla y León. This prominent enogastronomic event is officially scheduled from 23 to 25 October 2026. Visitors who come to this town during October can enjoy activities focused on local wines, specialised workshops, and various cultural events in the surrounding area of Las Arribes. The event has established itself as a benchmark for highlighting the wine products of the region and the work of its wineries.

Historical origins and tradition

The celebration of the Feria del Vino de Aldeadávila de la Ribera began in 2023, thanks to the initiative led by the former deputy mayor and former president of the Bodega Arribes del Duero, Emilio Gallego. Among the most deeply rooted traditions of the event are the traditional grape stomping and workshops focused on the production of traditional aguardiente (a type of spirit). Additionally, the programme includes a characteristic conjuro (incantation) of queimada, performed by the group Las Alquimistas de las Arribes in the municipal porticos. These customs reaffirm the cultural identity of the area and its direct connection to local artisanal production methods.

Programme and main events

Since the official programme already details the timings of the main events, it is worth reviewing some of the cultural and recreational highlights that structure the festive days. Among the most notable events of this edition are the official inauguration, the traditional grape stomping in the town square, and guided tastings. The calendar also includes a workshop on the production of traditional aguardiente, a live cooking session or showcooking led by David Monaguillo, and a musical vermouth featuring Sheila Galván on Calle José Antonio Caballero. Attendees can consult the complete list of timings and locations directly in the official programme of the fair.

Traditional festival food

The gastronomic offerings of the festival revolve around products made artisanally in the region and closely linked to the wine culture:

  • Mosto: defined as the juice of freshly pressed grapes obtained during the traditional stomping in the town square.
  • Queimada: a traditional drink that is prepared and distributed during the conjuro performed by the group Las Alquimistas de las Arribes in the town hall porticos. These flavours are complemented by culinary samples and live cooking demonstrations scheduled throughout the weekend at the fairgrounds.

Visitor guide and where to stay

The event primarily takes place at the fairgrounds located on Calle Cristóbal Martín Herrera, near the pelota a mano (handball) facilities. Access to the exhibition and sales area is completely free for all visitors who come to learn about the wineries and products of the region. To ensure proper planning of your stay and movements, it is recommended to follow a series of basic logistical guidelines:

  • It is advisable to book accommodation in advance to secure a place during the festival dates.
  • Staying in the municipality itself or in nearby towns makes it easier to attend the evening events without complications.
  • On days of higher attendance, it is preferable to use public transport or leave your vehicle parked outside the urban centre.
  • Before travelling, it is useful to consult the official programme, as timings and events may be subject to changes.
