Introduction and local significance

The Feria de la Manzana Reineta del Valle de las Caderechas en Cantabrana is held this year on 11 October 2026. This single-subject event pays tribute to the native apple variety with a quality guarantee mark from the Burgos region. In its fifteenth edition, the event brings together eight producers of this fruit and twenty-three agri-food stalls from Castilla y León, Euskadi, La Rioja and Cantabria.

Historical origins and tradition

The gathering was established in 2011 with the aim of highlighting the local Reineta apple and its connection to the rural environment of the province of Burgos. The day stands out for the special decoration that adorns the municipality during the event, giving a distinct visual identity to the autumn celebration. Local culture also has a place through the regular presence of creators from the area.

Programme and main events

The official events take place during an intensive morning session in Cantabrana. The scheduled activities include:

  • From 10:00 to 15:00: opening of the fairground and the agri-food product stalls.
  • Live apple juice production, with free tasting for the public.
  • Children's workshops aimed at family audiences.
  • Participation and meeting with writers and artists from the Valle de las Caderechas.

Traditional festival food

Visitors can purchase and taste a wide variety of artisanal preparations and quality products directly from their producers. The offer includes cheeses, honey, pulses, jams, cured meats, breads, traditional pastries and local stews. The absolute star product is the Reineta apple from Las Caderechas, appreciated for its organoleptic characteristics and traditional cultivation.

Visitor guide and where to stay

The Town Hall has set up new parking spaces to facilitate the arrival of vehicles and improve mobility in the municipality during the day. It is advisable to plan the trip in advance and consult the official channels for any schedule changes. For those wishing to stay overnight, it is recommended to book accommodation in advance in the municipality itself or in nearby towns to facilitate access to the celebration.
