Introduction and local significance

Samaín in Llanes, officially presented as 'Llanes de Miedo, Samaín 2026', is the annual event organised by the Llanes Town Hall to celebrate the Halloween festival and encourage citizen participation. This edition will officially take place from 31 October to 1 November 2026. The scheduled activities include various competitions aimed at energising the municipality, distributing nearly 3,000 euros in prizes among participants.

Historical origins and tradition

The festive programme integrates the celebration of Samaín through the organisation of themed contests focused on exterior decoration and commercial activity in the municipality. Among these, the IV Concurso de Fachadas y Jardines stands out, which this year expands its number of awards to grant five prizes of 250, 200, 150, 100, and 50 euros. Additionally, the VII Concurso de Comercios is held to reward local establishments with cash prizes of 200, 150, and 100 euros.

Programme and main events

Since the official programme already details the main events, it is worth noting that the activities on 31 October will concentrate in front of the Town Hall with free face painting and a photocall prior to the parade. At 20:00, the concentration and costume parade will begin, enlivened by the Compañía Teatro Despierto and the Mariachis Águilas de Jalisco, followed at 21:30 by the concert 'Llanes Music' at La Talá. On 1 November, the programme is completed with the Pasaje del Terror at the Espacio Joven de Las Marismas, open for those over 8 years old, with rules and registrations managed at the Tourist Office.

Traditional festival food

The hospitality sector plays a prominent role within the activities through the celebration of the VII Concurso de Bares y Restaurantes. This contest awards cash prizes of 200, 150, and 100 euros among the top three positions evaluated by the jury. The initiative encourages the direct involvement of bars and restaurants in the municipality during the event days.

Visitor guide and where to stay

It is advisable to book accommodation in advance to ensure a stay in the municipality itself or in nearby towns, which facilitates attending the scheduled night events. On days with the highest public attendance, it is preferable to use public transport or park outside the urban centre of Llanes. It is recommended to check the official programme before travelling, as schedules and events may experience changes.
