Introduction and local significance

The celebration of Quint@s 2026 in La Losa runs from 28 August until 9 September 2026. This annual event takes place in the municipality of La Losa, located in the province of Segovia, within the autonomous community of Castile and León. The festive programme is designed for community participation and is mainly centred around the Plaza de Los Pobos. The importance of these dates lies in the organization of a series of cultural, musical and culinary events taking place over nearly two weeks, fostering community spirit among residents and those visiting the municipality during the summer period.

Historical origins and tradition

The programme for Quint@s 2026 in La Losa includes events that maintain the religious and cultural traditions of the area. Masses and processions dedicated specifically to San Roque and the Virgen de Cepones take place at the Church of San Juan Evangelista, accompanied by floral offerings. These ceremonies coexist with popular festive events that fill the streets. Among the customary activities, parades accompanied by the sound of the dulzaina (a traditional Spanish oboe) and the tamboril (drum), as well as processions of gigantes y cabezudos (giants and big-heads), feature prominently on the cultural agenda. Likewise, during the festival days, the official proclamation of the new "Quint@s 2026" takes place, in a shared ceremony with the "Quint@s infantiles 2017".

Programme and main events

The official festival programme is extensive and encompasses various types of activities distributed throughout the municipality. The formal start of the events begins with the opening of the peñas (festive clubs) and a sangría contest, activities that lead into the opening speech (pregón), given in this edition by the Club Deportivo “Sierra de la Mujer Muerta” on their 10th anniversary. Highlighted events on the agenda include the soapbox race (autos-locos), which takes place on the Cuesta de la Calle Real, and the Vaquillas de la Luna (young bulls event) in the Plaza de Los Toros.

The entertainment is rounded off with a variety of musical performances including concerts, DJ sets and open-air dances (verbenas). In addition to these offerings, attendees can participate in sports championships, such as chito (a traditional throwing game), or enjoy themed events in the Plaza de Los Pobos. As the programme is extensive and timings may be subject to change, it is advisable to consult the detailed schedule of events published at the start of this guide before travelling.

Traditional festival food

Gastronomy occupies a central place in the organisation of the festivities, with several communal meals served in public spaces. The dishes and products featured in the programme are:

  • Chorizo a la sidra (chorizo cooked in cider): Served as a pincho (snack) during the opening of the peñas.
  • Sardinada (grilled sardine feast): A traditional meal accompanied by dulzaina and tamboril, held in the Plaza de Los Huertos.
  • Macarronada (communal pasta meal): A gathering organized as a popular communal meal.
  • Paella mixta y vegana (mixed and vegan paella): A dish served in the Plaza de Los Pobos at lunchtime.
  • Caldereta (traditional meat stew): A traditional stew prepared for attendees.

To access these meals, meal tickets must be purchased. The price is €6 per portion if bought before 2 September, rising to €7 from 3 September onwards. All portions include bread and dessert.
