Introduction and local significance

The German Fest in La Carlota (Córdoba) is the unique German Beer Festival of this Andalusian municipality. The current edition is celebrated from 16 to 17 October 2026 in the town hall square, where a 600 square metre marquee is set up under the slogan Ein Prosit, La Carlota. Doors open at 13:00 on both days to offer gastronomy, German beer, music, and tradition.

Historical origins and tradition

The festival pays tribute to the first Central European settlers who arrived in 1767 to found the town under the protection of the Fuero de las Nuevas Poblaciones. The event was born in 2017 during the commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the municipality, following the approval of the twinning with Konzell, the Bavarian village of Johann Kaspar Thürriegl, the adventurer who recruited those first inhabitants.

Programme and main events

The official programme for this edition includes the following events in the town hall square:

  • Friday at 20:00: Official inauguration and German polka dance by a local group.
  • Friday at 21:00: Musical performance by Miguel Ansio.
  • Friday at 23:00: Concert by the local cover band Melones Reverdes.
  • Saturday at 15:30: Musical performance by María Quebrajo.
  • Saturday at 20:30: Concert by the Oktober Music Band.

Traditional festival food

The bar features German beer, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, with varieties such as Helles, Märzenweizen, and Paulaner Weissbier, as well as water, wine, juices, soft drinks, coffee, and infusions. The kitchen serves traditional Bavarian recipes such as bretzel (pretzel), grilled bratwurst sausages, schweinshaxe (pork knuckle), brathendl (roast chicken), and frikadellen (German hamburgers), accompanied by potato salad and chips.

Visitor guide and where to stay

The main venue for the celebration is the town hall square in La Carlota. For the days with the highest attendance, it is preferable to use public transport or park outside the urban centre. It is advisable to book accommodation in advance, either in the municipality itself or in nearby towns, which makes it easier to attend the evening events. Before travelling, it is recommended to check the official programme, as times and events may be subject to change.
