Introduction and local significance

Las Fiestas Patronales y Populares de Mislata form the schedule of events planned for this municipality in the province of Valencia. During this year's edition, which takes place from 20 August to 5 September 2026, the town rolls out an agenda that combines religious acts with popular celebrations. The organisation of these festivities falls to two distinct entities: the Patron Saint Festivities are managed by the municipality's two clavarías (brotherhoods), dedicated to the Virgen de los Ángeles and the Santísimo Cristo de la Fe, while the Popular Festivities are organised by the Town Council of Mislata.

This festive deployment features a programme that extends for more than two weeks, allowing access to a variety of activities ranging from traditional parades to contemporary musical events and gastronomic tastings. The coordination between the clavarías and the local administration allows for the structuring of a diverse offering, adapted to different audiences. Visiting Mislata during these dates offers the opportunity to observe the execution of local customs, as well as to participate in collective acts that reflect the social and cultural organisation of the municipality. The combination of these factors, together with the provision of specific visitor services, shapes the development of the 2026 Fiestas Patronales y Populares de Mislata.

Historical origins and tradition

The basis of the celebrations in Mislata is found in the religious festivity dedicated to the Virgen de los Ángeles and the Santísimo Cristo de la Fe, whose traditional management is the responsibility of the local clavarías. These organisations are responsible for preserving the rituals that have defined the character of the patron saint festivities over time. It is worth noting that this year the clavarías are celebrating their 50th anniversary, an anniversary that has conditioned the structuring of the acts programmed for this edition.

The traditions associated with this festive cycle encompass various rites and cultural expressions that are repeated regularly. Among the most prominent manifestations in the town's festive heritage, the following stand out:

  • Passejàs: Tours and processions dedicated to the images of the Virgen de los Ángeles and the Santísimo Cristo de la Fe.
  • Entrà de la Murta: Tradition linked to the use of plant elements in the development of the festivities.
  • Nit d'Albaes: Days dedicated to the performance of songs and verses, a traditional form of expression in the Valencian Community.
  • Mascletàs: Pyrotechnic displays that take place both during the day and at night.
  • Procesiones: Liturgical and acts of faith that mark the big day of the fiestas.
  • Gran Entrada Mora: Thematic parade that runs through the central streets.
  • Desfile de disfraces: Playful and participatory activity that integrates visual spectacles.
  • Correfoc: Fire exhibition that runs through the urban layout.

These practices, organised through the collaboration of the clavarías and the Town Council of Mislata, maintain the continuity of the patron saint and popular celebrations, reflecting the municipality's commitment to its local customs.

Programme and main events

The official programme for 2026 presents a series of events differentiated by their nature and typology. The acts are distributed throughout the confirmed dates, covering proposals ranging from collective gastronomy to live music and folkloric traditions. Among the highlights of the calendar, it is worth noting the Giant Paella by the Clavaría del Santísimo Cristo de la Fe, an act that promotes socialising in Plaza de la Constitution, and the Gran Entrada Mora, which runs through the central streets until culminating in the same location.

The musical and cultural sphere features the 1st Remember Festival in Plaza Mayor and the 47th edition of the Music Bands Festival. Likewise, the final days include the big day of the patron saint fiestas with their respective processions, in addition to the nocturnal mascletà executed by Pirotecnia del Mediterráneo, which closes the days of greatest intensity. Those interested in the detailed development of the activities, including schedules and locations, should consult the list of acts that appears in the official programme, which details the complete agenda from 20 August to 5 September.

Traditional festival food

The culinary offering in the Fiestas Patronales y Populares de Mislata is articulated mainly through collective preparations that take place at different moments of the programme. These dishes, linked to the organisation of the clavarías and collaboration with local entities, offer a sample of the gastronomy of these celebrations:

  • Paella gigante: Giant paella, a main dish cooked by the Clavaría del Santísimo Cristo de la Fe. It is food prepared in large quantities for collective distribution and stands as one of the axes of citizen participation.
  • Xocolatà: Sweet hot chocolate preparation that accompanies traditional games afternoons, integrating into the leisure of the participants.
  • Pinchos: Skewers tasting organised during the Pinchos Night, held in collaboration with Penya Els Tronats. This act allows the consumption of individual portions in a festive context.

These proposals allow you to try dishes that form part of the tradition of the fiestas, being the result of a collaborative and festive preparation.

Visitor guide and where to stay

The Fairgrounds, located on Calle Hospital, have access from Plaza de la Libertad and are the location destined for the institutional opening and various shows, such as the roving Bloom, scheduled for 1 September. To facilitate the mobility of attendees during the days of greatest activity, a free urban bus service has been enabled, available from 1 to 5 September. This transport has stops at different points in the municipality and has adapted access for people with reduced mobility.

Regarding infrastructure and citizen care services, the fairgrounds have a fixed Police Command Post and UPCCA space for preventive work. Likewise, a Purple Point has been arranged for the safety and protection of attendees, in addition to a Lactance Point. To optimise your visit, it is advisable to keep the following guidelines in mind:

  • It is preferable to opt for public transport or park outside the urban centre given the influx of people on the designated days.
  • It is suggested to book accommodation in advance to ensure availability during the fiesta days.
  • Accommodation in the municipality itself or in nearby towns facilitates following the nocturnal acts.
  • Due to possible modifications in schedules or locations of activities, it is necessary to consult the official programme before making any trip.
