Introduction and local significance

The Fiestas Patronales in Orcera are officially held from 11 to 15 August 2026. However, the schedule of events linked to this edition includes various activities organised between 6 and 14 September. This festive calendar, which features a wide variety of events, is the main axis of social activity in the town during the end of summer. The events, which combine religious fervour, sporting activities and leisure programming, attract locals and visitors alike around the municipality's traditions.

Historical origins and tradition

The festivity is dedicated to the Santísimo Cristo de la Vera-Cruz, the municipality's patron saint, and to Nuestra Señora de la Asunción. The organisation of the events is the result of collaboration between the Peña Taurina Santo Cristo de Orcera and the Ayuntamiento de Orcera, the entities responsible for coordinating the rites and celebrations.

The religious aspect is structured through the Solemne Quinario in honour of the Patron Saint, a cycle that includes the lowering of the Christ and specific events such as the anointing of the elderly, days for married and engaged couples, and celebrations dedicated to children and youth. Tradition is also present in the sporting and leisure spheres. Highlights include the Bolos Serranos championships, in both the women's and open categories, and petanca tournaments. Meanwhile, bullfighting fans have a significant presence in the Fiestas Patronales in Orcera through the unpenning of fighting bulls from the Victorino Martín Andrés livestock ranch.

Programme and main events

The distribution of events takes place in different locations around the municipality. The Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción serves as the setting for the liturgical ceremonies and the Quinario events, while spaces such as the Plaza de la Iglesia, the football pitch and various streets in the town host the festive offerings.

The programme includes a variety of events ranging from the floral offering to the Patron Saint and the Solemn Mass to children's shows, daytime fairs and musical evening dances (verbenas). Sporting events and bull unpennings complete a schedule designed for various audiences. To check the date, time, location and details of each activity programmed for this edition, it is necessary to consult the official programme provided at the top of this page, which contains updated information on the events.

Traditional festival food

The programme of events includes social gatherings such as the communal meal organised for members of the Peña Taurina, held in the Patio Pinar de Amurjo. During the fair and daytime drinking sessions (tardeo), the town features meeting points in the Plaza de la Iglesia where attendees share leisure time. There is no specific information in the programme regarding concrete traditional dishes or fixed culinary specialties linked to this festivity.

Visitor guide and where to stay

Access to the municipality is by road. For days when the influx of people is highest, it is recommended to prioritise the use of public transport or look for parking in areas outside the centre, which facilitates access to the spaces where the events are concentrated.

It is advisable to book accommodation in advance, as having a place to stay in the municipality itself or in nearby towns allows you to follow the scheduled events more comfortably, especially those taking place at night. Before any trip, it is essential to check the information in the official programme, as times and the order of activities are subject to change by the organisation according to the needs of each moment.
