Introduction and local significance
Las Fiestas de Toros en Sepúlveda take place this year from 27 to 31 August 2026 in this municipality located in the province of Segovia, within the autonomous community of Castilla y León. This patronal event brings together locals and visitors for the bull-related events scheduled by the Town Council during the summer season. The security and organisational measures laid down by the council aim to ensure the proper running of the events on the public thoroughfares of the locality.
Historical origins and tradition
This festival has a deeply rooted tradition in the Segovian town, directly linked to traditional street bull-running events. Participants and spectators follow traditional rules of coexistence and safety for the running of the bull events. Respect for the cattle and the protection of attendees form part of the usual guidelines for this celebration.
Programme and main events
The official programme for this edition focuses on the holding of the traditional encierros (bull runs) organised for the days of 28, 29, 30 and 31 August. The timetables and development of the activities may be subject to changes, so it is recommended to check the official information provided by the Town Council before attending the events.
Traditional festival food
The regional surroundings of Castilla y León boast a characteristic traditional cuisine, although the official programme of the Fiestas de Toros en Sepúlveda does not detail specific gastronomic events in its schedule. Local establishments allow visitors to discover the culinary offerings of the area during the days of celebration.
Visitor guide and where to stay
To follow the events safely, the Town Council bans traffic from the aparcamiento de los Caños (Los Caños car park) to calle Alfonso VI (Alfonso VI street) and in Plaza de España (Spain Square) up to calle Sancho García (Sancho García street), setting up alternative diversions. Parking is also prohibited from 27 to 31 August on calle Los Fueros (Los Fueros street) up to Los Caños, calle Sancho García, Subida a la Picota, Santos Justo y Pastor, Comandante Cristóbal and along the entire route of the encierros. All doors opening onto the route must be closed a quarter of an hour before it starts, spectators must position themselves in protected areas and it is forbidden to taunt the cattle from the fencing. It is advisable to book accommodation in advance and, on the days with the highest turnout, use public transport or park outside the centre.
