Introduction and local significance

Las Fiestas de San Adrián are celebrated in the Foral Community of Navarra and have as their central axis the devotion to the Holy Relics and the Virgen de la Palma. This official edition runs from 6 to 28 July 2026, concentrating its most intense days in the second half of the month. Locals and visitors flock to these patron saint celebrations to experience the religious and popular events that mark the town's summer calendar. The celebration transforms the usual dynamics of the Navarrese municipality, attracting a large public interested in experiencing local traditions and the events scheduled for these dates.

Historical origins and tradition

The festivities have deep religious roots dedicated to the programme of fiestas in honour of the Holy Relics and the local patron saints. Among the most deeply rooted traditions are the bajada (descent) of the Virgen and San Adrián, a very special moment that brings the faithful together in the streets of the municipality. Also noteworthy is the solemn singing of the salve in honour of the Virgen de la Palma, complemented by an emotional floral offering at the local parish church. Attendees also actively participate in the lighting of the fiesta bonfire, a ritual that brings citizens together around the traditional fire. In the musical and folkloric section, the dancing of the jota of San Adrián and the popular performance of the Corrido de San Adrián stand out. The popular festivities are completed with the eagerly awaited release of the torico de fuego (bull with fire) and torico de agua (water bull), concluding the days with the traditional Pobre de mí (Poor me - end of fiestas song).

Programme and main events

Given that the official programme details the schedules and specific locations for each day, it is worth reviewing the essential milestones that define the core of the celebration of Las Fiestas de San Adrián. The starting signal is marked by the launching of the chupinazo (opening rocket) in El Rebote, giving way to the days of official celebration in the town. In the religious sphere, the solemn procession of the Holy Relics and the High Mass in the church and Plaza Vera Magallón stand out. The mornings incorporate the traditional bull runs with livestock ranches such as Pincha, Álvaro y Pablo Lumbreras, Son Sant Martí, Iván López, and Valrubio. The afternoons host the fair of the 34th edition of novilladas without picadores (novice bullfights) for the Espárrago de Oro trophy at the bullring. The nights close with events such as the fireworks displays on the Paseo del Ebro, while the end of the festivities arrives with the Pobre de mí.

Traditional festival food

The culinary and beverage offerings of the festivities rely heavily on the popular tastings organised by the peñas (social clubs) and local entities during the celebration days.

  • Zurracapote: the typical drink traditionally made and consumed by the peñas during the festive days.
  • Hojas de parra y licores: traditional products offered in the popular tastings held in the El Rebote area.
  • Bollos preñados: bread and cured meat gastronomic specialty distributed by the Club Taurino San Adrián.
  • Chorizo a la sidra: traditional recipe of great roots prepared and served by the peña El Bombo.

Visitor guide and where to stay

To follow the events in complete comfort, it is advisable to book accommodation in advance, either in the municipality of San Adrián itself or in nearby towns. This foresight greatly facilitates following the night events without logistical travel complications for visitors. During the days of highest public influx to the festivities, it is preferable to opt for public transport or leave vehicles parked in the authorised areas outside the town centre. It is recommended to check the updates of the official programme before travelling, as occasional variations in the schedules planned by the municipal organisation may occur.
