Introduction and local significance
The Feria Medieval en Éibar transforms the centre of the Gipuzkoan municipality during the All Saints' long weekend. Organised by the Casa Galicia de Éibar, the Éibar Town Council and Timbapirata Events, this edition is held from 30 October to 1 November 2026. The event stands out in Gipuzkoa for combining a historical setting with elements of Galician tradition in the central Plaza Untzaga.
Historical origins and tradition
The event is promoted by the Casa Galicia de Éibar, which brings a distinct Galician accent to the medieval celebration in the heart of the Basque Country. The atmosphere recreates a fantasy and historical town through the participation of local organising entities and specialists in thematic reenactments. Among its most characteristic elements are the staging of the queimada (a traditional Galician alcoholic beverage made from queimada spirit, coffee beans, lemon peel and sugar) and the presence of fantastic characters who interact with the public.
Programme and main events
Given that the official programme is already detailed in the top section, it is worth highlighting the milestones that mark the festive days in Plaza Untzaga. These include street parades with dragons, aerial acrobatics shows combined with fire displays, and live musical performances. On the nights of Friday 30 and Saturday 31 October at 22:00, the traditional large public queimada takes place.
Traditional festival food
The gastronomy section revolves around the Galician tradition introduced by the event organisers. The public queimada stands out prominently, prepared and served on Friday and Saturday nights as a festive ritual. In addition, the medieval market features artisan product stalls where various traditional specialities can be purchased.
Visitor guide and where to stay
To attend the fair in Plaza Untzaga, it is recommended to use public transport or leave your vehicle outside the centre during times of highest attendance. It is advisable to book accommodation in advance, either in the municipality itself or in nearby towns, which makes it easier to follow nighttime events such as the queimada. It is worth checking the official programme beforehand for any potential schedule changes.
