Introduction and local significance
Feria de Sayalonga is the festive event that takes place in this municipality in the province of Málaga during the month of July. The 2026 edition will be held from 17 to 19 July. During these days, the town organises a programme of activities combining recreational and sporting events, with the fairground and Plaza Rafael Alcoba serving as the main hubs where the core events for locals and visitors take place.
Historical origins and tradition
Feria de Sayalonga retains a structure of popular celebrations in which local groups participate to carry out its rituals. Among the characteristic features of the festivity is the election of its representative figures, which include the Queen, Mister, Ladies and Gentlemen, in both the children's and youth categories, as well as the election of Miss and Mister Marchosos 2026. Additionally, the programme features the participation of the Rondalla Municipal and the dance groups of Sayalonga and Corumbela, representing the traditional component of the event.
Programme and main events
静岡 The schedule spans three days of activities alternating sports competitions with festive events. Thursday 17 July features the opening day with the proclamation speech given by María Jesús del Pilar Márquez, the switching on of the decorative lights and the subsequent fireworks display. On 18 July, the Daytime Fair is inaugurated in the marquee at Plaza Rafael Alcoba. The events conclude on 19 July with the trophy presentation and a final firecracker run (traca). The rest of the events, including swimming competitions, ribbon races and musical performances, can be consulted in the official programme available in this same profile.
Traditional festival food
The gastronomic offering during Feria de Sayalonga is structured around tastings linked to the programme's events:
- Queso y jamón (cheese and ham): These products are offered to attendees during the single-versus-married football match, which takes place on 16 July at the multi-sports pitch.
- Paella: Served as a popular paella during the inauguration of the Daytime Fair on 18 July in the marquee set up in Plaza Rafael Alcoba.
Visitor guide and where to stay
The festival's activities are concentrated in the fairground, although the programme includes locations such as the municipal swimming pool, the village square and the multi-sports pitch. To organise your stay, it is advisable to book accommodation in advance, both in the municipality itself and in nearby towns, which makes it easier to follow the evening events.
On days with the highest turnout, it is preferable to use public transport or park your vehicle outside the centre. Before travelling, it is advisable to consult the official programme, as times and events may be subject to change.
