Introduction and local significance

The Feria de la Sal en Avellanes-Santa Liña celebrates its tenth edition this year under the motto 'Un municipio, 10 años de sal'. This official gathering will take place on 25 October 2026 and is designed to champion salt as a core element of local historical heritage. The event features the direct participation of the Vilanova de la Sal salt pans and the presence of the Gerri de la Sal salt pans.

Historical origins and tradition

The event revolves around the salt-producing tradition of the Les Avellanes i Santa Linya area, a historical resource that is being revived today to promote the municipality. This heritage base is combined with the presence of local artisans and producers. As part of the cultural exhibitions scheduled for this edition, the venue spaces host a travelling exhibition of sculptures by Jordi Marcos and a display of illustrations by Sonia Alins in the Town Hall assembly room, alongside the audiovisual presentation by Cesc Camí.

Programme and main events

Given that the official programme is already detailed at the beginning of this file, it is worth noting that the central events combine a musical opening by the percussion group Protons, a musical vermouth with students from the Fem Música school in Balaguer, and a closing act starring the dancers from Idansa. On the commercial side, the Feria de la Sal en Avellanes-Santa Liña brings together over forty stalls of artisan and local products distributed around the fairground.

Traditional festival food

The culinary offering of the day stands out for the inclusion of local artisan and regional products across the more than forty stalls set up. As a notable new addition to the food section, a savoury pastry workshop is held, promoted through the project 'Del trigo a la mesa' by the Consell Comarcal de la Noguera. This activity is led by the Bakers' Guild and allows attendees to make their own pastries using salt as the main ingredient.

Visitor guide and where to stay

To plan your visit to the Feria de la Sal en Avellanes-Santa Liña, it is advisable to check the official programme beforehand in case of any timetable changes. On days with higher visitor numbers, it is recommended to use public transport or leave your vehicle outside the centre to facilitate access to the venue. It is best to book accommodation in advance, either in the municipality itself or in nearby towns, making it easier to follow the scheduled events without logistical setbacks.
