Introduction and local significance
The Feria de Artesanía in El Granado celebrates its XXII edition from 16 to 18 October 2026. This event brings together a varied cultural and gastronomic offering in the municipality of Huelva, focusing on the appreciation of traditional crafts and local heritage. Attendees can enjoy a programme that combines exhibitions, workshops, and popular tastings in locations such as Paseo del Santo and Plaza de España. This event promotes knowledge of the local culture through activities open to all visitors.
Historical origins and tradition
The history of this gathering is reflected in its consolidation after reaching its twentieth edition in October 2024. Among its traditions is the display and transmission of artisanal crafts in ceramics, wood, textiles, leather, and metals. Additionally, it fosters a close cross-border connection and cultural exchange with Portugal through the participation of groups such as the Rancho Folclórico de Faro. Visitors can also witness the live craftsmanship of cane basket making by José Domingo Cavaco. The programme is complemented by an exhibition of sacred art models by Iván Lino Catalán and a display of crochet nativity scenes made by Pepi Lino inside the Church of Santa Catalina.
Programme and main events
As the official schedule already details the calendar of activities, it is worth noting that the event kicks off on Friday 16 October at 17:00 with the official inauguration and opening of the fairgrounds at Paseo del Santo and Plaza de España. Among the highlights of the weekend are the V Concurso de Pintura Rápida al Aire Libre under the slogan "El Granado, el valor de ser auténtico", the IV Rally Fotográfico El Granado, and the hiking route "Pasos Fronterizos" through the natural surroundings. The programme also includes the intergenerational exhibition "Cocina con Beturia" and children's workshops specialising in pottery led by Xema Cejudo, saddlery with Isaac Álvarez, and floral cards taught by Viva Magenta. The streets come alive with theatrical parades titled "Tricolor", "El Bosque Encantado", "Indian Show", and "Blanco y Negro", alongside musical performances by Foreños, the Helga Molina Singing School, and the cover band Rocktámbulos. To complete the visit, there are scheduled tourist train rides to the Molino de Viento de la Solana and the opening of the Interpretation Centre for Agriculture and Milling alongside the Mining Museum, culminating on Sunday at 20:00 with the official closing of the fair.
