Introduction and local significance
The Cabalgata de Reyes in Sevilla is a notable festival that holds the distinction of being a Fiesta de Interés Turístico Autonómico. This celebration in the Andalusian municipality is officially scheduled for 5 January 2027, during which 11 floats will make their debut.
Historical origins and tradition
The Cabalgata de Reyes in Sevilla has a century-old history and has been celebrated since 1918, organised by the Excmo. Ateneo de Sevilla. What began as an idea to bring joy to the less fortunate children of the city has become one of the most anticipated events of Christmas in Sevilla. On the Night of Kings, children leave their shoes clean and tidy on the balcony, window, or next to the Christmas tree, along with food and drink for the travellers, including milk, water, dried fruits, grass or straw for the camels, and a piece of roscón or turrón. The parade features themed floats, official floats with the Kings and their pages, musical groups, batucadas, and local collectives, distributing sweets and toys.

Traditional festival food
During this time, local gastronomy revolves around traditional products consumed both at home and during the various festive celebrations. Among the most notable items is the roscón, which is part of the offerings left on the night of 5 January for the Reyes Magos and their camels. Additionally, turrón accompanies the tables in Sevilla during the weeks of Christmas and the pre-events organised in the city.
Visitor guide and where to stay
It is advisable to book accommodation in advance for the festival dates, whether in the municipality itself or in nearby towns, which makes it easier to attend the events. It is recommended to use public transport first, such as the metro, urban bus, and Cercanías, to avoid traffic restrictions and parking issues, as the streets in the city centre are usually closed from early afternoon. It is advisable to arrive early to secure a good spot on the wide avenues and central squares, and to always follow the instructions of municipal services for safety reasons.
