Introduction and local significance
The Cabalgata de Reyes en Arrecife is the key cultural and festive event held in the municipality during the first weeks of the year. The official dates for this edition run from 2 January to 5 January 2027, a period during which the town hosts the preliminary activities and the grand central parade. This event stands out for bringing thousands of families out into the streets to welcome Their Majesties from the East, in an appointment planned in advance by the municipal council.
Historical origins and tradition
The organisation of the festivity has a budget of almost 112,900 euros allocated to the tender for the event, which includes both the main parade and the previous reception events. The regulations of the celebration require that all participating vehicles are properly decorated and that their occupants wear clothing appropriate for the occasion. The awarded company must present a detailed project of the visual elements at least seven days before the start of the events.
Programme and main events
Given that the file already shows the list of official calls, it should be noted that the programmed events are structured around the preliminary receptions and the grand final entourage. The City Council establishes receptions by the royal pages in various neighbourhoods on 2, 3 and 4 January. The main highlight takes place with the Three Wise Men Parade on 5 January, conceived as a family-oriented travelling spectacle with floats, entertainment groups, musical formations and visual shows.
Traditional festival food
As the dossier does not record any specific dishes or recipes exclusively associated with this celebration in the municipality, visitors are advised to enjoy the traditional culinary offering in the local establishments open during these festive days.
Visitor guide and where to stay
The 2027 parade is planned to start in Naos, near the former Agramar cannery, finishing up in the vicinity of the Puente de Las Bolas and the Castillo de San Gabriel. To attend the events, it is advisable to book accommodation in advance in the municipality itself or in nearby towns, which makes it easier to follow the evening events. On the days with the highest turnout, it is preferable to use public transport or park outside the centre, and it is useful to consult the official programme before travelling in case of any schedule changes.
