Introduction and local significance
The 21K Ciudad de Huelva is held from 30 October to 1 November 2026 in the Huelva capital. This athletic event reaches its fourth edition, firmly established as a sporting event of international scope that expects to exceed 2,000 runners. The event combines high-level competition with a social purpose, donating part of the proceeds to the Asociación Cultural de Personas Mayores Andariego (Cultural Association for the Elderly 'Andariego').
Historical origins and tradition
The competition is organised by Runner Sport Huelva and the Club Maratón Huelva Puerta del Descubrimiento, with the sponsorship of the Huelva City Council. In this fourth edition, athlete Juan Bautista Castilla 'Chamba', Ultraman World Champion in Hawaii, acts as the event's ambassador. His figure inspires the design of the official t-shirt, which incorporates his characteristic pink and black colours alongside his logo.
The roster of athletes for this edition features the presence of Spanish champions Fátima Ouhaddou and Jorge González Rivera. Likewise, the athlete Zakafia Boufaljat will be making his debut in the half-marathon distance on the Huelva course.
Programme and main events
The confirmed events of the 21K Ciudad de Huelva are distributed over the three festival days as follows:
- 30 and 31 October: Celebration of the Runner's Fair at the Espacio Santa Fe. This venue hosts the distribution of race numbers, as well as a programme including talks, presentations, masterclasses, training sessions, and stands for shops and sports clubs.
- 1 November: Running of the half-marathon. The race starts and finishes in the Plaza de la Constitución and runs through a flat, certified 21-kilometre urban circuit across various neighbourhoods of the capital.
Traditional festival food
During the event weekend, the city's hospitality and restaurant network caters to the influx of athletes and their companions. Hospitality establishments adapt their offerings with menus suitable for the nutritional needs of athletes in the days leading up to the race. Likewise, venues spread throughout the city centre and the streets of the route provide service to visitors throughout the sporting day.
Visitor guide and where to stay
The epicentre of the race is located at the Plaza de la Constitución, where the start and finish lines are, while the Runner's Fair is located at the Espacio Santa Fe. On days with higher attendance, it is preferable to use public transport or park vehicles in parking areas away from the city centre.
To secure a stay, it is recommended to book accommodation in advance of the event dates. Staying in the city of Huelva itself or in neighbouring towns facilitates access to the starting points and parallel activities. Before starting your trip, it is advisable to check the official programme in case of any last-minute changes to the schedule.
